NAMING THE CITY OF ALBUQUERQUE FIRE STATION 7 THE "KEN SANCHEZ FIRE STATION 7"
WHEREAS, Councilor Ken Sanchez served the City of Albuquerque and District 1 as City Councilor for fourteen years, from 2005 to 2019, until his passing on January 1, 2020; and
WHEREAS, Councilor Ken Sanchez also served as Bernalillo County Commissioner for seven years, from 1995 to 2002; and
WHEREAS, Councilor Ken Sanchez was a model public servant who was steadfast in his dedication to improve District 1, the Westside, and the entire City of Albuquerque; and
WHEREAS, Mayor Keller fully supports changing the name of Station 7 to Ken Sanchez Fire Station 7 and stated, "Ken Sanchez was Council President when I first came into office, he helped my administration find our way with City Council and joined with us to directly address many deep-seeded challenges facing City Hall with a focus on public safety"; and
WHEREAS, Councilor Ken Sanchez was a staunch supporter of Public Safety, including his direct legislative support for wage increases and procurement of equipment for the City's Police Officers and Firefighters; and
WHEREAS, Albuquerque Fire Rescue (AFR) Fire Chief Paul Dow and AFR Retirees Association President Kerry Horton presented the family of Councilor Ken Sanchez with a Resolution of Condolence plaque and a Silver Fire Fighter Helmet in appreciation for all the work he completed on behalf of AFR during his tenure as City Councilor; and
